Castella Maris Baltici XVI - Current research and new perspectives on castle studies

We are happy to welcome You to the 16^th Castella Maris Baltici conference in Turku on September 16–19, 2025! The conference will take place in the premises of University of Turku and Turku Castle.

The theme of the conference will be “Current research and new perspectives on castle studies” with an aim to explore the present state and future of the castle studies around the Baltic region. Besides papers on current research, also papers on the theoretical and methodological aspects are most welcome, as well as presentations regarding funding and organizing the research now and in the future.

Registration and fees

The representatives of each country are asked to preliminarily inform us on attendees by Sunday, 6^th of April. The official registrations and abstracts for papers will be asked by the end of May.

The attendance fee for the conference will be confirmed later. The fee will include lunches on Wednesday 17^th – Friday 19^th of September, coffees during the conference days as well as dinners on Wednesday 17^th and Thursday 18^th.

The conference fee will not include accommodation. The attendees should reserve their accommodation in Turku, list of some accommodation alternatives can be found from the end of the page.
